Nathan Magsig represents District 5 on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, covering Clovis, southeast Fresno, Sanger, Auberry, and foothill communities including Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake. A licensed general contractor and building inspector, he holds a master’s degree in criminology and an MBA, both from Fresno State. He served on the Clovis City Council beginning in 2001, including as Mayor of Clovis, before winning election to the Board of Supervisors in 2016; his current term runs through January 2029, and he is also a 2026 candidate for State Senate District 12.
Magsig led Fresno County’s opposition to a 2022 state law removing the term “squaw” from California place names, backing the county’s lawsuit against the state; a judge ultimately dismissed the suit, ruling the county lacked standing to sue the state as a political subdivision. He has also been the chief supporter of the county’s “Parents Matter Act,” which removed books and materials addressing gender and sexuality from children’s sections of Fresno County libraries, a policy that drew criticism from LGBTQ advocacy groups.
