Josie Cervantes

Former City Council Member, Orange Cove

Josie Cervantes is a former City Council Member for Orange Cove who served roughly a decade in office before losing her re-election bid in the November 2024 general election, finishing last in a five-candidate field for two at-large seats with 9.5% of the vote. She received a ceremonial plaque at her final meeting in December 2024. During her tenure, Cervantes pointed to police department expansion, a water well project, and the development of 50 affordable housing units for low-income elderly residents as accomplishments, saying at her departure, “We have a lot of things in place. … I’m very, very proud to say that I was part of that.”

In 2020, California’s Fair Political Practices Commission reached a stipulated settlement with Cervantes over accepting Oakland Raiders tickets from a public affairs firm in excess of the legal gift limit, a violation of state conflict-of-interest law; reporting indicates a fine in the range of $3,000. No verified information on her occupation or education was found in public records.
