Fresno and Clovis Rank Among Top Cities for First-Time Homebuyers in National Survey

Fresno and Clovis received favorable rankings for first-time homebuyers in a new survey by WalletHub, with Fresno placing 30th among big cities and Clovis ranking 25th among small cities.

The survey evaluated cities based on three factors: affordability, the real estate market, and quality of life. According to WalletHub Analyst Chip Lupo, both Central Valley cities benefit from favorable weather. Lupo noted that Clovis has strong quality of life indicators and positive real estate market conditions.

“It’s a pretty good picture for folks in the Central Valley,” Lupo said.

Despite the favorable rankings, the survey comes at a time when first-time homebuyers face significant challenges. Lupo noted that high prices and interest rates are pricing many first-time buyers out of the market, a shift from the historical average where first-time homebuyers represented 40% of the market.
