Fresno Council Spends $22,560 More to Fix Active Transportation Plan After Cesar Chavez Boulevard Name Change

The Fresno City Council approved $22,560 in additional taxpayer money on June 18, 2026, to pay TJKM Transportation Consultants to rewrite the city’s Active Transportation Plan because of the recent Cesar Chavez Boulevard name change.

The council extended the consultant’s contract three months to September 30, 2026. The total contract is now $420,560.

The city paid TJKM $398,000 starting in November 2023 to update the Active Transportation Plan. A first amendment followed in December 2025. Now a second amendment is required to revise the ATP documents to reflect that Cesar Chavez Boulevard is now California Avenue, Ventura Street, and Kings Canyon Road.
