Five City Council Candidates Answer Voter Questions at Tower District Forum; One Seat Left Empty
Five candidates running for Fresno City Council district seats fielded questions from voters at a Tower District forum Tuesday evening, weeks ahead of the midterm election. A sixth candidate’s absence was marked by an empty chair.
The forum featured District 1 candidate Naindeep Singh; District 3 candidates Joaquin Arambula and Keshia Thomas; and District 7 candidates Nav Gurm and Adriana Martinez Lott. District 1 candidate Rob Fuentes did not attend due to a scheduling conflict.
“The thing that struck me the most was that he showed up and what struck me the most about the other candidate is that he did not show up,” District 1 voter Daniel Brannick said.
Questions covered housing, education, and funding. The forum included a lightning round of yes-or-no questions. When asked whether they support data centers in the city or community, each of the five candidates present responded “no.”
District 1 voter Marcus Winston said the event introduced him to Singh. “He’s a really no-nonsense guy. He spoke it really candidly, really straightforward. He told everybody the truth. Don’t trust the people who are getting the money from these other big corporations and companies, and that makes perfect sense to me,” Winston said.
Dulce UpFront and Together Across America hosted the volunteer-run event.
