David J. Tangipa, the Republican incumbent, is running for re-election to California’s 8th Assembly District in November 2026, effectively unopposed after winning his primary without serious competition. His campaign centers on three themes: supporting law enforcement and passing anti-crime legislation, forest and wildfire management under the slogan “Log it, Graze it, or Watch it Burn,” and opposing tax increases and regulatory expansion, campaigning to “fight for our Valley, Foothill and Mountain communities.”
