Nathan Magsig, a Republican and current Fresno County Supervisor, is running for California’s 12th State Senate District in November 2026 against Libertarian challenger William Brown Jr., after winning the June 2026 primary outright with about 62% of the vote in a field with no Democratic candidate. Magsig has campaigned on reducing regulation to secure reliable agricultural water supplies, including support for smaller local storage projects, forest and wildfire management tied to stabilizing insurance costs, opposition to what he calls anti-law enforcement policy, and energy independence. He has been endorsed by all four Republican Kern County Supervisors, the Kern County Sheriff, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, and police associations in Clovis, Fresno, and Bakersfield.
