Brian Pacheco, a Democrat, is running for California’s 27th Assembly District in the November 2026 general election, seeking to move from his current seat on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, which he is not seeking re-election to after three terms. A fourth-generation Kerman dairy farmer, he says his record on the Board of Supervisors positions him to “deliver results for local residents.” The seat is open because incumbent Esmeralda Soria is running for State Senate; Pacheco advanced from the June 2026 primary alongside Republican Mike Murphy, a former Merced Mayor, in a district spanning parts of Fresno, Madera, and Merced counties. He has been endorsed by outgoing Assemblymember Soria, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp, and several fellow county officials.
